Release Notes – August 2026

This release brings Addressable TV targeting via SCTE-35, Skip Rule Player SDKs, major 5centsCDN Player enhancements, and a new throughput analytics layer with 95th percentile charting across V4 and V5.

Feature: Ad Insertion – Addressable TV Parameters via SCTE-35

• Ad Insertion now supports Addressable TV targeting through SCTE-35 processing and forwarding.
• Targeting parameters embedded in SCTE-35 markers — such as content ID, zone, and audience signals — are extracted and forwarded to the ad decision server at the moment of the ad request.
• Enables precise, audience-level ad targeting on Connected TV and FAST channel delivery without requiring separate targeting infrastructure.

Feature: Ad Insertion – Advanced Skip Rule Player SDKs

• Skip Rule enforcement is now available as client-side Player SDKs for video.js, Shaka Player, and the 5centsCDN Player.
• Developers can integrate skip policy logic directly into their player setup, ensuring skip behaviour defined in Ad Manager is enforced consistently on the client side across all supported players.
• Complements the server-side Skip Policy editor introduced in July, completing the end-to-end skip rule workflow from configuration to playback.

Feature: 5centsCDN Player – New Capabilities

• The 5centsCDN Player has received a set of meaningful new features this month:
  • Banner Support — display overlay banners within the player for promotional or informational use during playback.
  • Promo Icons Support — add branded or contextual promo icons to the player interface.
  • Closed Caption Customizations — expanded CC controls giving viewers more flexibility over caption appearance and behaviour.
  • AI Translation — automatic AI-powered translation of captions for multi-language audience support.

V5 Updates

Feature: Throughput Analytics – Gbps Data & 95th Percentile Charting

• Analytics now includes throughput-based data alongside existing volume metrics, giving a complete picture of bandwidth consumption at the rate level.
• 95th percentile charting is available, the industry-standard measurement used for rate-based billing — showing sustained peak usage while filtering out short spikes.
• This unlocks rate-based pricing as a billing option for clients who prefer Gbps-based agreements over volume-based models.
