Release Notes Overview:
We are excited to introduce a range of powerful updates in this month’s release at 5centsCDN, with two major new features taking the spotlight: YouTube Sync and Stream Tester Version 2. In addition, we’ve expanded the capabilities of Critical Backup, made improvements to the V5 Dashboard, and introduced a new payment option. Let’s explore the highlights:

Release Highlights:

Introducing: YouTube Sync (Closed Alpha)
A key addition this month is YouTube Sync, now available in closed alpha. This product enables you to directly bring your YouTube videos into your 5centsCDN account, making it easier to manage and distribute videos from a central platform.

Key Features of YouTube Sync:

  • Retrieve and import videos, playlists, and subscriptions from your YouTube channel
  • Transfer/export content to another YouTube channel
  • Track the status of video imports and exports in real-time

Stream Tester (Version 2)
We are also rolling out Stream Tester Version 2, which supports both HLS and DASH streaming protocols. This enhanced version includes real-time stream statistics, providing detailed insights into performance metrics such as bitrate and latency. This ensures that streams are optimized and ready for live production, giving you full visibility into your stream’s health.

Critical Backup (General Availability)
The Critical Backup feature has reached general availability, offering more robust and flexible control over your data backups. Key updates include:

  • Link Enable/Disable: You can now easily enable or disable zones links, giving you more control over synchronization process.
  • Manual Syncing: In addition to scheduled backups, a new Sync button allows you to manually trigger a backup whenever needed, providing instant data sychronization without waiting for the next scheduled sync.

Direct HLS Playback in Video Manager
Managing and sharing video content is now faster and more efficient with the addition of Direct HLS Playback in the Video Manager. Users can retrieve the HLS playback URL for uploaded videos, simplifying the process of embedding and distributing streams across various platforms.

V5 Dashboard (Beta 0.1.2) Updates

PayPal Integration
We’ve introduced PayPal as a new payment method, offering users a more flexible and convenient way to manage payments for their 5centsCDN services.

Traffic Director Enhancements
Key improvements to Traffic Director include:

  • Failover and Round-Robin Modes: We’ve resolved previous issues with failover and round-robin with failover rule modes, making them fully functional and improving traffic distribution and ensuring more reliable service continuity during server outages.
  • Improved Health Checks: Fixed an issue with adding new health checks, ensuring a smoother setup process and improved monitoring capabilities.

User Impact
In the V5 Beta, we did experience some downtime for two days, which temporarily affected our users. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and have worked to resolve these issues with critical bug fixes and performance enhancements.

We’ll continue to monitor and improve system stability to prevent such occurrences in the future.
